We are very excited to officially announce that Bobby is starting a new job with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) starting Monday, May 24!
Most of our blog readers are likely very aware that Bobby's transfer to the Baltimore office wasn't exactly what he had expected. He has been quietly and patiently conducting a job search over the past few months which led to this opportunity. His new office is just a 15 minute train ride from our house and the SEC is conveniently located next to Union Station and the US Capitol.
Bobby's transition from public accounting to government work will be really tough! He will have to get used to working at a snails pace, getting every other Friday off, a bunch of paid holidays (i.e. Columbus Day) and even having work cancelled the minute a snowflake hits the ground. Yes, he will surely miss public accounting and the 70 hour work weeks!
All kidding aside, Bobby is very excited to be one of the first members of a newly created group within the Division of Trading and Markets, which will be responsible for regulating the securities markets and how investments are bought, sold and settled. His primary responsibilities will be focused on the regulatory reform related to derivatives, which has been a very hot topic in the Senate over the past several months.
